Back to the Beach Shrimp Festival

Gulf Shores will host it’s annual Shrimp Festival October 13-16 titled ‘Back to the Beach’. Although in it’s 40th year, the Gulf Shores Shrimp Festival was recently named #7 best festival in the Southeast by Southern Living Magazine as well as one of the top 5 tourist attractions in Alabama and yet it’s still FREE! The shrimp festival features an abundance of shrimp prepared a multitude of different ways, along with music, arts and crafts, sand sculpting competitions, and a children’s village.

The outdoor festival is four fun filled days packed with more than 300 vendors and two stages for entertainment and music. The music line-up will have something for everyone, featuring local, regional and national touring groups. A 10K run, a 5K run and a 5K walk that that begin at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 15 are also included in festival’s events. Registration details can be found at the Chamber of Commerce website. The sand sculpture contest is also on Saturday with registration and building to begin at 11:00 am and judging to start at 3:00 pm.

The children will be happy to find free snow-cones and popcorn located in the children’s village. The children’s village will also include games, activities and arts and crafts. Children will be able to create their own art and participate in fun activities. Festival hours are Thursday-Saturday 10 am to 10 pm and Sunday 10 am to 5 pm. This is a festival you don’t want to miss and a commemorative poster you’ll want to add to your collection.
