Shrimp Festival Gulf Shores

Shrimp festival

The annual Shrimp Festival in Gulf Shores is celebrating its 41st year this year on Oct 11th-14th. The four day festival is presented by Zataran’s and produced by the Alabama Gulf Coast area Chamber of Commerce. The Shrimp Festival has everything from arts and crafts, musical entertainment, a children’s activity village, and of course lots and lots of gulf shrimp!

The festival is a place that many chef’s and restaurants try out their art of making the perfect shrimp entrée. Whether it is fried shrimp, grilled shrimp, shrimp and grits, you better bring an appetite to this festival because you will not leave hungry. The weekend of the festival is also a time that local restaurants pull out all of the stops to host their own shrimp festival menus.

The festival is not just about the food. It is about bringing families and the community together through food, art, and fun. There will be several music acts and if this year is anything like past years, the line-up will be amazing. There are several fine arts booths hosted by local vendors along with arts and crafts stations. For the kids, there is an activity village where they can create their very own art.

There are also the traditional festival events like the 10k/15k Shrimp Festival run/walk beginning at 8 and 8:30am on October 13th. The race had been a strong tradition since 1977 giving the community a fun and exciting way to raise money. This year’s proceeds are going towards the Coastal Baldwin Education Enrichment Committee benefitting the public schools of Orange Beach and Gulf Shores. If the number of volunteers is anything compared to last year, this will be an outstanding event.

The festival is estimated to bring in over 300,000 people this year including visitors and locals. The event holds a great family atmosphere while provided a friendly competition to the self-proclaimed “Best Shrimp Cooks”. You do not want to miss a minute of the fun at one of anticipated annual events hosted by the City of Gulf shores, so come join us on Alabama’s Gulf Coast for this year’s Shrimp Festival.
