City of Dauphin Island

Dauphin Island is a remote barrier island located 33 miles south of Mobile, Alabama. Visitors can travel by car via a 3.2-mile bridge that connects the island to the mainland or arrive by auto-passenger ferry that runs daily to and from Gulf Shores.  Once on dry land, a simple and secluded island escape awaits, free from the large crowds that flock to more traditional gulf coast beach destinations.

Dauphin Island offers much to do, in addition to relaxing in the water and playing in the sand.  The island has inshore and offshore fishing captains ready to guide you through the world class fishing waters of the Alabama Gulf Coast.  If you are a golf lover, the Island Dauphine Golf Club awaits, an 18 hole public course with panoramic views of the Gulf of Mexico.

Holiday Isle is a first class gulf front condo development, with over 600 feet of beach frontage and the only full concrete frame condominium on Dauphin Island, supported by more than 900 concrete pilings that extend 75 feet below ground.   No expense was spared to provide Holiday Isle owners and guests with superior construction features and luxurious amenities, like indoor heated pool, outdoor pool, tennis court and fitness center.  Luxury interior amenities at Holiday Isle include granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, whirlpool tubs and floor to ceiling glass to capture a full view of the brilliant coastal Alabama landscape.

If a beach house is more your style, Dauphin Island features raised gulf front homes, as well as waterfront homes with fishing piers and boat lifts.  Dauphin Island is an ideal spot for folks looking for island life at a slower pace, with a small town appeal.  For more information Alabama island life and real estate for sale, simply give us a call at 251-866-6464.

Dauphin Island is a bit off the beaten path, as there are only two points of entry.  Due to the variations of tides and traffic, exact commute approximations are difficult to estimate.  If you choose to live in Dauphin Island, you likely will not want to leave your new home to commute to an office in Mobile or Pensacola.

While visitors may come to Dauphin Island to watch the birds migrate, there is plenty else to do on the island.  From Fort Gaines, Dauphin Island Sea Lab, Dauphin Island Campground, and the Audubon Bird Sanctuary to numerous boat launch sites, there is always something to see and do.  However if you have time to enjoy the shining white sand beaches or public golf course and parks, you will truly feel like you have found paradise in Dauphin Island.

There are lots of restaurants from which to choose in this somewhat touristy seaside town, but if you visit Dauphin Island, the Seafood Galley Restaurant, is a must eat if you love crab claws or fried seafood.

When visiting the island, be sure to stop in at Marti’s Island Shop for lovely apparel and accessories for the women in your life.  Pick up a few seashells and other novelties at one of the many shops, and enjoy your time in Dauphin Island.
