Daphne is located along the Eastern Shore of Mobile Bay and is known for its fine schools and strong family values. Fishing and crabbing make use of the beautiful resources surrounding Daphne and it is known as “The Jubilee City.” Jubilee, refers to a time when the blue crabs, shrimp and fish converge on the shallow waters of the Bay Shore shoreline and are scooped up by those waiting onshore to fill their ice chests.  Daphne celebrates with the Eastern Shore Chamber’s Arts & Crafts Festival and Festa Italiana each spring, too, where families who live in Daphne gather to celebrate the area’s rich heritage.  Many waterfront homes in Daphne offer private water docks and access as well as panoramic views of the Mobile Bay’s sparkling water, making everyday life magical for those who live in Daphne.

Each year Daphne hosts the Jubilee Festival, an outdoor arts and crafts show that attracts artists and shoppers from the Southeast. This is a fun filled weekend for foodies, art-goers, and the entire family. Honoring it’s Italian heritage Daphne hosts two annual festivals, the Festa Italiana, sponsored by Christ the King Church and the delectable Mamma Mia Cook-off benefits the Daphne schools. What other events does Daphne have to offer you ask? During the Lenten season Mardi Gras parades are presented by several mystic organizations and are celebrated by the entire family. Floats are flamboyantly bedazzled with riding masked revelers who throw Moon Pies, candy, beads and toys to the pedestrians lining the streets along the parade route. Afterwards, put the kids to bed and don your finery for a Mardi Gras ball and “Laissez les bons temps rouler” enjoying food, live music and dancing!

Daphne is located in upper Baldwin County, Alabama, about twenty minutes from Mobile, Alabama and about an hour from Pensacola.

 

Aside from “Jubilee,” Daphne also has a variety of other recreational activities. Most popular is boating on the Bay, shopping area boutiques, meandering along the many flower-filled city parks or watching spectacular sunsets over Mobile Bay. Year-round golf and tennis is a huge attraction due to the area’s mild climate.  Daphne has many golf course communities with breathtaking views of the fairways and greens as well as your ability to play a round or two every day.

 

Guido’s Restaurant is reason enough to visit Daphne and almost a reason to move to this charming town.  BBQ and pulled pork sandwiches at Mike’s Smokehouse Market will seal the deal, as will many of the other charming restaurants in Daphne.

 

 

Jubilee Square is a 355,088 square foot shopping center located at the crossroads of Interstate 10 and Highways 98 and 90 in Daphne. With Rave Motion Pictures, TJ Maxx, Stein Mart, Rack Room Shoes, Books-A-Million, Pier 1 Imports and Hobby Lobby, and even Home Depot, this outdoor mall offers plenty of shopping for you all your needs.
