To provide a glimpse of the personal side of 30675 Caribbean Blvd., we conducted a private interview with the sellers of this unique property. Please review the following statements for a picture of life in Spanish Fort, on the very outskirts of Mobile Bay:
Agent: How did you know this was the home you were meant to buy?
Seller: “We used to drive by the house on our boat and we always dreamt that someday we would live there. One day the opportunity arose and it truly became a reality, the home of our dreams.”
Agent: Were schools a factor in your decision to purchase this home?
Seller: “Yes, schools definitely were a factor. Our daughter was in kindergarten and the Spanish Fort school system is wonderful. We are thrilled that our child was able to go to school in Baldwin County.”
Agent: What have become your top 5-10 favorite features of the home?
Seller: “There are so many things we love about this home! First of all there is a waterfront view out of every window that is very calming and peaceful. We’re also surrounded by two state parks: Five Rivers behind us and Meaher State Park in front of us. My husband loves to go boating. I love the fact that it is 10 miles away from Mobile, 45 minutes drive to Gulf Shores, 1 hour to Biloxi, 1 hour to Pensacola. I also love the wildlife! We have had raccoons stop by, Canadian geese, ducks, and the turtles that are almost extinct. Their mothers lay the eggs and then the babies find their way to the water.”
Agent: Where do you find yourself spending the most time in the home and why?
Seller: “I stay out on the back porch. It’s nice to see the boats driving by and my husband likes the bar area underneath the house where the man cave is. He also spent a lot of time boating. It’s easy just to jump in your boat and take off!”
Agent: What improvements have you made to the home or property over the years?
Seller: “We recently updated our kitchen. The master closet has been completely redone. My husband is a carpenter so he’s quite handy to have around. He made his man cave. It’s a 200 square ft. apartment underneath the house and he watches football and has friends over.”
Agent: What are your favorite grocery stores and shops in the area?
Seller: “When we first moved here in 2001 there was no shopping in Baldwin County. Now we have the Bass Pro Shop which is about a mile and a half away. We’ve got the Jubilee Square Shopping Center, the Eastern Shore shopping center even Sam’s Club which is about five miles away. We used to have to go into Mobile for most of these stores.”
Agent: Any interests or hobbies you enjoy on or near the property?
Seller: “In May the wild blackberries are in bloom and you can walk up to the State Park and take as many as you like and come back to the house and make a fresh blackberry cobbler. That’s always fun and the nature walk up at the Five River Estuary is wonderful. My husband goes on a walk board on the water and waverunner and boating. Our neighbor is a shrimper, so they will go out shrimping together.”
Agent: Average utility costs in summer and winter?
Seller: “The power bill averages out to about $200 per month year round…. there is a wood burning fireplace which is really nice in the winter.”
Agent: What will you miss most about living in or owning this property, as well as the surrounding community?
Seller: “We love the property! We will miss everything about it. The camaraderie, the boating, the neighbors and the location is wonderful. Spanish Fort and the Eastern Shore are a wonderful place to live. We have some really great memories there.”
Agent: If you don’t mind me asking, why have you decided to sell your home?
Seller: “The only reason our house is up for sale is that work has called us up to Prattville, Alabama which is two and a half hours north. The job was too good to pass up!”
