I needed a few things from the store tonight, so I went to dinner with friends at Agave. You heard me right, I needed to pick up dog food, avocados, and bananas so I went to dinner with 3 girlfriends and planned a baby shower! Let me explain how you can have this incredible life too! Seriously.
So, unless you live under a rock, you know that Walmart now has an online grocery ordering service and they bring it out to your car for you. I’m going to give you the play by play. You’ll either use a friends link or you visit walmart.com/grocery and register and it’s almost too easy to register. You put in a few pieces of information along with a credit card and phone number and then start shopping. Add everything that you need and check out; at that point, you can choose your pick up time. Mine was the next evening, not sure if that’s typical or not or if you can get it sooner.
My pick up time was between 7pm-8pm and at about 6:40 pm I got a call from Walmart Grocery Service letting me know my order was ready for pick up. I didn’t answer and they left a message, then called again about 20 minutes later and I let them know I was on my way. Once you pull in, I was at Fairhope Walmart, you park over by the pharmacy and there are 5 specific parking spots for this service. When you pull in, there is a sign with a number on it- call it and let them know you are there. About 2-3 minutes later Albert came out with my groceries. He introduced himself, shook my hand and explained the program. He showed my produce to me to make sure it was satisfactory. I ordered organic bananas and avocados. They were out of organic bananas, so they gave me regular and did not charge me for them due to the substitution. They also were not sure whether I needed fully ripe or not so ripe avocados, so they brought me both! I had a super small order tonight to try out the service. I had 2 large bags of dog food and it was so nice to have them loaded into the back of my car.
When ordering your items online, you have the option to be non-negotiable on items or allow substitutions, organic vs. non, etc.
To be able to go to dinner then pick up groceries is worth gold to this busy Broker-Mom-Wife! I think this service will definitely be a game changer in terms of leverage and grocery shopping. I am all about girl time in lieu of grocery shopping. This service is completely free to the shopper; you only pay for your goods. Tipping is also not accepted for this service. In lieu of tips, they ask that if they did a great job, that you give them 5 stars on the customer satisfaction survey that you get via email after you sign for your items. Mention your shopper by name and they are rewarded by Walmart for those kudos!
