The Warehouse Bakery & Donuts on Nichols Avenue in Fairhope has quickly become our family favorite. It is as much a gathering place for friends as it is a convenient spot to satiate your hunger. Fresh brewed coffee and shared tables help create the sense of community true to Fairhope life. The wide variety of beautiful baked pastries displayed at the counter always tempt me as I chat with friends waiting to put in our orders. Each time I cave in and pick a new pastry to try – and they never disappoint. It is important to our family that many of these ingredients were found locally! The Warehouse Bakery forgoes feminine and frilly décor for a much more rustic style. My children love the small table with crayons set up just for them and can always find a friend to join. Those of us too tall for the kids’ table sit with other families at the long farm style tables and compare our lunch choices. We like to branch out and are always open to menu suggestions from the other patrons. My husband has become accustomed to me eating off his plate, but he draws the line at sharing with new acquaintances that join our table!
On Friday night we can choose a Warehouse pizza or “build our own” and enjoy local music at Warehouse. The kids’ slice is just $2! “Rock & Roll BINGO” is a popular event in Fairhope on Friday and Saturday nights. On many weekends local talents set up to entertain the regulars and relaxed parents easily give in to our children’s requests for sugar-coated baked goods. My favorite dish continues to be the T-Mama’s Veggie Benedict with an awesome combo of spinach, avocado, eggs, and parmesan cream sauce. If you have not experienced brunch at Warehouse yet, stop by for a Buddha Bowl and pick up a cute Warehouse Bakery trucker’s hat while you’re there!
