This residence has been enjoyed and extremely well maintained by its current owners.  The following interview between the sellers and their Jason Will Real Estate Agent, sheds light on the personal side of 109 Savannah Square, from top features of the property to the surrounding community and what the home truly has to offer:

Agent:  How did you know this was the home you were meant to buy?

Seller:  “We actually built this home in 2007.  For us it was more that we knew this was where we wanted to build.  We lived in Mobile at the time and were looking for a lot somewhere on the Eastern Shore.  Close proximity to the interstate was important to us, as well as close proximity to downtown Fairhope.  Rock Creek provided both for us.  As soon as we drove upon Savannah Square we knew it was special.  It was unlike any other street in the neighborhood and had such a unique charm.  All of the homes were one of a kind and the street just felt like home immediately.”

Agent:  Were schools a factor in your decision to purchase this home?

Seller:  “The school system was definitely a factor in our decision to buy in Fairhope.  We knew the Fairhope school system had a great reputation and were fairly certain our children would attend there.  We currently have one at Fairhope Elementary and one at Fairhope Intermediate and they both have exceeded our expectations.  The Fairhope Community is extremely supportive of the local schools and it has created an amazing circle of great schools, great businesses & a great community.”

Agent:  What have become your top 5-10 favorite features of the home?

Seller:   “We have so many favorite features of our home.  A few are:

  • The Outside Living Space: this is a very social street and many of us spend a lot of time on our porches, either visiting, watching our children play around the square or just relaxing because it is a quiet street with little traffic.
  •  The Courtyard: we enjoy spending time in the back grilling and eating, listening to music, and just relaxing.
  • The Interior Living Space: We love having separate spaces for the children.  The variety of rooms in our home allow for the children to have their own den, their own play room, as well as their own bedrooms.  We have a roomy living room so we can all spend time together, but we can comfortably separate as well.
  • My Kitchen:  I love the kitchen.  Like most, it is where we spend the majority of our time.  The island is huge and allows for so many thing to occur simultaneously.  Most days the island is home to meal preparations, homework & craft projects at the same time!  I also love the French doors that allow me to close the kitchen which makes it easier to keep an eye on small children, as well as contain noise that is inevitable in kitchens.  Conversely, I can have the doors open which creates more open feel from the kitchen to the den – I love the option!
  •  I love having this available over the garage.  Now that the children are getting older it is nice that they have a place to go and play with friends that is still in close proximity, but provides enough space for all.”

Agent:  Where do you find yourself spending the most time in the home and why?

Seller:  “We spend the most time, like most, in the kitchen.  When you couple the fact that I love to cook with raising growing boys, its only natural that we are in the kitchen A LOT. It is a spacious kitchen that makes meal prep enjoyable.  Our family really loves the kitchen /keeping room combo so we can watch TV while we are still in the kitchen.”

Agent:  What improvements have you made to the home or property over the years?

Seller:  “Over the years we have added brick pavers in the backyard to create a more defined courtyard.  We have extended the kitchen island as to expand the eating area of the island.  For us, this eliminated the need for a kitchen table.  We also added plantation shutters throughout the downstairs windows & custom blinds on all of the exterior French doors.”

Agent:  What are your favorite grocery stores and shops in the area?

Seller:  One of my favorite things about Savannah Square is its close proximity to not only my favorite places to shop, but necessary places to shop too.  You can get to all of the fantastic downtown shops, Target, Walmart & a variety of grocery stores in under 10 minutes.  However, nothing beats Publix being right around the corner!”

Agent:  Any interests or hobbies you enjoy on or near the property?

Seller:  “My favorite hobby in Rock Creek has to be exercising.  The expanse of the neighborhood allows for very long & peaceful runs or walks.  This is a very active neighborhood.  You will always see others jogging, walking, walking their pet, strolling their young children, etc.   When my children were little we would go for jogs with the stroller, then visit the duck pond in our neighborhood, then finish the outing off at the park at the end of Savannah Square.  Now that my children are older, we all go for a jog or bike ride together!”

Agent:  Average utility costs in summer and winter?

Seller:  “Our average monthly utility costs are @ $350.”

Agent:  What will you miss most about living in or owning this property, as well as the surrounding community?

Seller:  “We will miss the friendliness of all of the neighbors, the feel of community on this street, our great friends, our children’s friends & the safe play environment this street offers to children of all ages.  This is the street where children from all over Rock Creek come to play because of the large green spaces that allow for games, running around and all without much traffic ever coming by.  We will definitely miss this unique element the most!!”

Agent:  If you don’t mind me asking, why have you decided to sell your home?

Seller:  “We are choosing to move at this time in order to be closer to work and life obligations that have shifted over the last several years.  However, we will definitely be back to visit our lifelong friends on Savannah Square!!”
