Operation Christmas Child is led by Samaritans Purse, a ministry founded in 1970 to provide International Aid by following Christ’s command by going to the aid of the world’s poor, sick, and suffering.
We are so excited to have partnered with our local church, Celebration Church Fairhope, to lead Operation Christmas Child on the Eastern Shore. Celebration Church had a goal of 140 boxes last year and did a little over 175. This year, our goal is 200 and I know we will far exceed that.
I went to Dollar Tree in Fairhope, AL and filled up my shopping cart, then unloaded the entire shopping cart! While shopping, I realized what an amazing lesson I could teach my kids if they came and did the shopping. So, that is what we did. I took them back and they each got a buggy and we shopped…for other children…and not for ourselves…and we didn’t even ask if we could get something for ourselves! And that, to me, is WIN! They experienced the joy of giving, even better is giving in the name of Jesus.
To pack a box is simple. First, you choose a Gender, then you choose an age range. They are 2-4, 5-9, and 10-14. Then you simply shop for items to fill the box- things that will bring these International Children JOY since they rarely receive anything and often times have nothing. You can use the shoeboxes provided by Samaritans Purse or you can buy a plastic box or use a shoe box that you have.
This year, we asked local business owners in Fairhope to help us with some necessities, so that we could ensure that each child some basics. We were not surprised at all by the help we got. Dr. Trey’s children’s dentistry donated over 200 toothbrushes and flossers and Daphne Pediatric Dentistry of Daphne donated over 200 tubes of toothpaste as well! We also had a local ask his clients and we received over 200 matchbox cars for little boys to enjoy. We are so appreciative of our community coming together to make sure we can share the good news of Jesus Christ.

Celebration Church is the Relay Location along the Eastern Shore of Baldwin County for drop off locations, etc. Celebration Church’s packing party is Wednesday, November 18 at 6:30 pm and we would love to invite you and your family to join us.
