The issue we have found in selling Midtown Mobile AL homes, is that there is often a significant amount of work that needs to be done and homebuyers tend to view a “project” as opposed an ideal home purchase. Being able to present a property to market that is as “turn-key” ready as possible is a key ingredient to being ranked in first position above active listings in a very competitive market like Midtown. Rachel Tullier, Lead Listing Specialist for the Jason Will Real Estate Team, has just listed a winner at 1554 Blair Avenue.
So what sets our newest Midtown real estate listing apart? Lucky for us, our seller had some great information to share in regards to her fondness for her former home and we have chronicled the details of the conversation below for prospective Gulf Coast homebuyers who may be in the market for a great deal in Mobile, AL. Please take a moment to read the comments below and if you have any questions or if you would like to schedule a showing you can call our 24/7 sales line at 251-866-6464.
Rachel: “What would you say were the deciding factors that lead you to buy Blair over all the other homes you had looked at in this area of Mobile?”
Seller: “I thought the house was charming but at the same time it was in great shape, which was very important to me. I loved the fact that the house was located on a dead end street and that the surrounding homes appeared to be very well kept. The bedrooms were spacious, which was a plus and I enjoy cooking at home, so the large pantry was a big selling point for me. The key for me thought was that I instantly got the feeling that I was home.”
Rachel: “Were schools a factor at all?”
Seller: “Yes, the home was very close to Council Traditional School, as well as located in the Murphy High School district.”
Rachel: “What have you come to appreciate most about the home?”
Seller: “This is the coziest home I have ever owned. I loved the quaint historic appeal of the home and the fact that it was very up to date. I found the bedrooms to be large and there is a great deal of storage, which is rare in Midtown. The home is very easy to maintain and I experienced very few issues that required repair, despite the age of the home.”
Rachel: “Where did you find yourself spending the most time in and around the home?”
Seller: “I had a hammock in the backyard and relaxing there when the weather was nice was often my happy place. I was also fond of beginning my weekend mornings with a good book and a hot cup of coffee on the front porch. The majority of my neighbors all hang out on their front porches and we would take turn hosting dinner parties. I really appreciated that strong sense of community.”
Rachel: “You mentioned that the home was pretty well updated when you bought it and that the home has required very little maintenance. Have you made any improvements since you have owned the home?”
Seller: “Yes, I have added some personal touches in addition to some important mechanical updates, that I think the new owners will appreciate. I painted every room of the home and added several new light fixtures and ceiling fans. I closed in two doorways in the guest rooms to improve the flow of the house and added a built-in desk to one of the bedrooms. I had a security systems installed, the electrical system brought up to code and had some of the older plumbing components replaced. Outside, I added new landscaping, a sprinkler system and a storage shed that matched the exterior of the home.”
Rachel: “Can you share some thoughts on how you feel about the location of the home?”
Seller: “The location is incredibly convenient. Winn-Dixie is in walking distance and it was really nice to be able to walk to the store to grab a few last minute items for dinner. It is a very active community, with folks frequently out walking or running. I also liked being close to the Farmer’s Market in Downtown Mobile, as well as being a mere 15 minute drive away from all my favorite department stores at the Eastern Shore Centre.”
Rachel: “Now that you have moved on and purchased another home, can you tell me what you miss most about life on Blair Avenue?”
Seller: “In terms of the home, I miss the old world character and how well built it was. I miss tending to my herb garden and being in walking distance to stores and restaurants, as I don’t have that luxury with my current home. Most of all, I miss hanging out with my neighbors and all of our impromptu porch gatherings and dinner parties. I had the best neighbors you could possibly ask for and that was very hard to leave behind.”
