I asked our seller a series of questions, that I feel a person looking to invest in a Midtown Mobile historic home would like to know.  Please take the time to read the details of our conversation below an if you would like for us to take you on a private tour of this amazing residence, please call Diana Will direct on her cell at 251-508-1336.

Jason: What were the deciding factors that led you to buy this home?

Seller: When we bought the house we were expecting our first child and were dreaming of a rambling home in a safe walkable neighborhood that was full of character and personality. We were drawn to the home’s history; it was built in 1910 as a farmhouse for a pecan farm and plantation and is on the Azalea Trail. The front porch was a huge selling point for us!

Jason: In your opinion, what are the current selling points of your home?

Seller: This is not your typical cookie-cutter home. It has character and history and is in a friendly neighborhood with warm neighbors and area shops, schools, and parks. It is well-built and roomy and the perfect place to raise a family. The home is very private but we love spending time on the large front porch as a family visiting with neighbors. It also has a full apartment over the garage with rent bringing in much of the mortgage payment.

Jason: What have become your favorite aspects of the home?

Seller: The huge kitchen is a favorite of ours, as well as the beautiful large bay window (complete with old bubbly glass like many of other windows!). The home has a unique, original, and quant floorplan complete with large bedrooms and an office. We also enjoy the workshop space and the garage apartment, which helps pay much of the mortgage.

Jason: Were schools a deciding factor in your purchasing this home?

Seller: When we first bought the home schools were not a factor as we thought we would stay about 3 years and then move. Thirty three years later we finally moved! Our children attended Catholic School until high school when they attended Murphy High School, considered the best high school in Mobile. There are many schools in walking distance such as UMS Wright and Murphy.

Jason: Any interests or hobbies you enjoyed near the property?

Seller: The water garden and our workshop for stained glass and wood turning.

Jason: What will you miss most about living in or owning this home?

Seller: We will miss this neighborhood and the proximity to nearly everything in Mobile. We loved the large floorplan and the memories of our children growing up in this home. We love our friendly and helpful neighbors and will miss time on the porch with them. We will also miss taking walks with family and the dogs to Park Avenue’s Park/Three Mile Creek. This home is where our family made many memories and friends.
