Jason: What were the deciding factors that led you to buy this home?

Seller: We wanted a smaller development near to but not in town.  Country Woods met these requirements with several significant features.  It is full of well maintained but visually varied homes and grounds.  The layout of  Country Woods limits through traffic and allows children to safely play throughout the development.

Jason: Were schools a factor in your decision to purchase this home?

Seller: Schools were not a factor for us.  However, the house is in the Fairhope school district with K-12 public schools.  There are also nearby Catholic schools thru 8th grade and the Catholic high school scheduled to open in 2017 is near to the house.  Other private schools are close, including Bayside  Academy.

Jason:  What have become your favorite aspects of the home?

Seller:  The openness of the kitchen and family room.  The privacy afforded us in the back yard.  The large walk-in closet in the master Bedroom.  The wonderful sunlight coming in through the solar tubes and skylights.  Great entertainment space in the remodeled great room.

Jason:  Where do you find yourself spending the most time in the home and why?

Seller:  Of course we spend a lot of time in the kitchen and also the sunroom which is where we watch TV and also eat our meals because of the view out the windows into the back yard.

Jason:  What improvements have you made to the property since the purchase?

Seller:  During the past 10 years we have landscaped front and side yards and added lighting.  In the back we have created a garden with multiple areas of plantings, a stainless steel fountain and a greenhouse.  In the house we opened the kitchen & living room to create a large open concept area for entertainment.  We included  solar tubes and new french doors for access from the driveway.  New, energy efficient windows were installed as a part of the remodel as well as thermostatically controlled attic ventilators.

Jason: Any interests or hobbies you enjoy near the property?

Seller:  Fairhope is also home to miles of public bay front parks with walking trails and a pier that extends over the water for a 1/4th  mile which was described by a visitor as “bootcamp for heaven”   I am also a cyclist and from Hwy 104 it is easy to get  to the county roads where we sometimes ride 30 to 50 miles.

Jason:  What is your average utility costs in Summer and Winter?

Seller:  Winter & Summer both average about $200./mo.  Spring & Fall about $180./mo.  Examples: January $184., July $218….April $168,  May $160. …includes gas, water, sewer, power and garbage   2 adults, no children.

Jason:  What will you miss most about living in or owning this property?

Seller:  The spaciousness and warm feeling of this house.

Jason:  What will you miss most about your neighborhood and/or surrounding community?

Seller:  Wide variety of families, from young with children to retired and in between.  Quiet  Although there is no formal association there is a very cooperative attitude among the neighbors who will gladly help each other and work together to better the common areas.  Willingness of individuals to support neighborhood activities like Halloween parties for the young ones.
