For a well maintained and updated brick home in the established and family friendly neighborhood of Brookwood Subdivision, 2758 Brookwood Drive is the place to be! Centrally located in the Midtown area of Mobile, AL, close to shopping, schools and major highways (for ease of travel and commutes), the home’s many advantages truly set it apart!
From first glance, the lush front lawn with excellent curb appeal sets the stage for the entire property, from the inviting front porch to the cozy back patio. With 3 spacious bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms, the 1,678 square feet of living space is enhanced by the openness of the living areas. A soft, neutral paint color, crown molding, and gleaming hardwood flooring throughout the home, serve as the perfect foundation for any decorative style.
The updated kitchen is truly a chef’s delight! With gorgeous granite countertops and stainless steel appliances, the accommodations are extremely attractive as well as functional! A broad window above the sink, spanning the entire end of the kitchen, provides abundant natural light. Exposed wooden beams, a custom chandelier and ceramic tile flooring also add to the character and rustic motif of the kitchen and dining areas.
Outside, the beautiful lawn with mature foliage wraps around to the partially privacy fenced backyard. The double carport with extra storage space, set toward the back of the property, allows for private access into the house. A comfortable covered patio with ceiling fan overlooks the back lawn, providing an excellent outdoor living space.
This residence has been enjoyed and extremely well maintained by its current owners. The following interview between the sellers and their Jason Will Real Estate Agent, sheds light on the personal side of 2758 Brookwood Drive, from top features of the property to the surrounding community and what the home truly has to offer:
Agent: How did you know this was the home you were meant to buy?
Seller: “Brookwood has always been a very popular neighborhood for young families. We purchased our first home in Brookwood in the early nineties and bought our second home in Brookwood several years later when we were planning to have our second child. We loved that our first born son had many friends in the neighborhood and decided to stay. When we purchased this house I thought it had ” good bones” and lots of potential. I loved all the windows and natural light.
Brookwood is a frequent “Nappie Award Winner” and through the years has been home to a number of young professionals. There is a neighborhood pool around the corner, the Woodlands, that is popular with many of the area residents. A number of neighborhood teens Life Guard at the pool and many of the area children spend their days in the summer at the pool. It has a fifties atmosphere and a very wholesome environment. We have loved being members at the Woodlands. I have always felt very secure in the neighborhood and enjoy walking in the mornings and late afternoons; as do many of the other residents.”
Agent: What are your favorite grocery stores and shops in the area?
Seller: “Brookwood is close to I 65 and I 10 and is in the midtown area so it is convenient to most parts of town. There is a new neighborhood Walmart that has just been completed within a few miles of the neighborhood on Government St and the new Costco, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and Field & Stream complex is just minutes away. There are a number of new stores that have opened in that area. The Heron Lakes Country Club is nearby and offers golf, tennis, and swimming facilities.”
Agent: What improvements have you made to the home or property over the years?
Seller: “My home is near the entrance to Brookwood, close to Cottage Hill Road and on a quiet street. We added Crown molding in the living room years ago and in recent years I have made a number of improvements: I have replaced the roof with architectural shingles, replaced the exterior electrical box, replaced the gas furnace with an electric heat pump, put in granite countertops, faux finished the kitchen cabinets, added stainless steel appliances, white washed the pecky cyprus in the kitchen, replaced the hardwood floors throughout the house and added porcelain tile in the kitchen.”
Agent: What have become your top 5-10 favorite features of the home?
Seller: “I like the open floor plan in the house and love the kitchen and den/seating area. It’s the perfect spot for children to watch TV and have a snack. The master bedroom is spacious and has a large closet that is unusual for the homes in Brookwood. The house is done primarily in soft muted colors that I find create a comfortable respite. The children’s bedrooms/guest rooms are spacious with plenty of closet space. Utilities are affordable with power and water averaging about 250.00 per month excluding the electric heat pump financed with Alabama Power. The porch and backyard has lots of potential. A few flower beds and a grill and outdoor eating area are all that is really needed.”
Agent: What will you miss most about living in or owning this property, as well as the surrounding community?
Seller: “Having raised two wonderful children in the house and neighborhood, I will miss those memories.”
